Zigbang, South Korea’s leading proptech company (CEO Seongwoo Ahn), announced on the 30th the introduction of the new NFC-based ‘Tag & Go’ feature for its smart home AI door lock, Haven.
Haven is a smart door lock that eliminates the numeric keypad for password entry, replacing it with AI-powered facial recognition and a mobile key function via the exclusive Zigbang Smart Home app. Leveraging cloud-based OTA (Over-The-Air) software updates, Haven can receive bug fixes, feature enhancements, and entirely new functions without the need to replace the device, ensuring it always delivers the latest performance—a key differentiator from conventional door locks.
The newly updated Tag & Go feature, delivered via OTA, integrates NFC technology with the existing mobile key to simplify the authentication process. Previously, users had to launch the app, activate the mobile key, and then tag their smartphone to the door lock. In Tag & Go mode, there is no need to open the app—users can simply place their smartphone, even in locked-screen mode, near the door lock to gain access.
Haven and the Zigbang Smart Home security system are built on an asymmetric encryption framework that matches a private key stored on the user’s smartphone with a public key on the authentication server. This ensures an exceptionally high level of security, making it virtually impossible to hack with current technology and allowing even NFC—which can be vulnerable in other implementations—to be used safely.
The feature will be available first on Android devices, with iOS support to follow. Zigbang plans to continue delivering software updates to improve product features and add new services.
